Teacher's Aide

The Part-Time Preschool Teacher Aide supports the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in creating a Christ-centered, safe, and nurturing classroom environment for young children. This role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, supervising children during free play, transitions, and meals, and providing additional hands-on support as needed. The Teacher Aide will help maintain a clean and organized learning environment, assist with classroom preparation, and ensure children’s safety at all times. While the position is part-time, the Teacher Aide plays a critical role in supporting the spiritual and educational development of students through a faith-based approach. This role requires effective collaboration with the teaching staff and occasional interaction with parents and caregivers.

Essential Functions: 

Assist the Lead and Assistant Teachers with daily classroom activities, including lesson preparation, organization of materials, and set-up of learning stations. Participate in classroom routines, such as cleaning up after activities, helping prepare for the next lesson, and transitioning children between activities. Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure classroom harmony, communicating any concerns about students’ behavior or needs to the Lead or Assistant TProvide supervision and support during student transitions, recess, snack/meal times, and bathroom breaks, ensuring student safety and wellbeing. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment, including assisting with cleaning tasks, organizing materials, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.Support faith-based classroom activities by reinforcing Christian teachings, participating in scripture readings, prayer, and other activities as directed by the Lead Teacher. Encourage positive behavior and model Christian values such as kindness, patience, and cooperation during all student interactions. Foster a positive relationship with students, creating a warm, inclusive environment that reflects Christian love and care.Assist with student needs by providing individualized attention and guidance, helping with basic tasks such as dressing, eating, and participating in group activities. Monitor and support small group activities, providing additional help to students who need it while ensuring that learning remains on task.Occasionally communicate with parents during drop-off or pick-up as directed by the Lead Teacher, providing brief updates on their child’s day.Attend staff meetings or professional development opportunities as needed to align with classroom goals and school values.The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.  They are not an exhaustive list of the duties that may be assigned to job incumbents.
