LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Albany Campus
BASIC FUNCTION:
To instruct high school students in the proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Residential/Commercial Building Maintenance & Remodeling industry. To provide entry level skills allowing students to enter the job market or to continue their education at the post-secondary level. To be involved in developing partnership programs with local colleges and universities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Instruct students about safety, green construction, reading blueprints and site layout, along with receiving extensive training in home energy efficiency.
+ Units of study will cover building materials and fasteners; ladders and scaffolding; framing; concrete forms construction; siding and decks; roofing and rigging; theater/studio set building; and interior finish and trim.
+ Course will also teach use of hand & power tools; basic equipment operation and maintenance; residential construction technologies and basic commercial construction technologies; etc.
+ To develop in each pupil, an awareness and understanding coupled with the communication skills and knowledge in the industry.
+ To be responsible for developing and evaluating course plans.
+ To strive to instill in each pupil safe work habits, the importance of continuation of his/her education and assets of reliability, competence, loyalty and dependability.
Job Qualifications
+ Should meet New York State Teaching Certification requirements in Residential/Commercial Building Maintenance & Remodeling 7-12 or able to meet requirements. + Two (2) to four (4) years of occupational experience or hold an industry related credential is required.
+ Some teaching experience preferred.
+ Candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide sound instruction, ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively with staff and administration.
+ Possess good written and verbal skills.
The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
Salary dependent on education, certification and experience as detailed in current contract prorated to the amount of service rendered
