The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.physicsandastronomy.pitt.edu/) invites applications for an appointment stream faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. This position will begin with the Fall term of 2025, subject to budgetary approval, and is an appointment for the nine-month academic year that is renewable.

Competitive candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, particularly large-enrollment introductory courses and laboratory courses. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, an interest in exploring innovative teaching techniques and developing novel courses, and a track record of teaching experience. The strongest candidates will also show familiarity with current research on learning and teaching.

Required Qualification: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related fieldand the ability to teach large introductory physics courses at the undergraduate level.

Duties associated with this position will include teaching, including lab courses, lecture courses, and small recitation sections, training and supervising teaching assistants, designing introductory course materials, advising undergraduate students, and assessing our undergraduate program.
