Faculty Rank or Job Title Teaching Assistant/Simulated Patient (Part-time on call) (General Announcement) Job Category: Administrative (exempt/non-exempt) Department Medical Education-BSOM EEO number: 24H007 Position FTE PTOC Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate $16.52/hr.(Teaching Assistant); $26.61/hr.(Simulated Patient) Salary Band: UC HR3-(Teaching Assistant); UC HR5(Simulated Patient) Job Summary/Basic Function: Teaching assistant (TA) and Simulated Patient (SP) work within the Skills Assessment & Training Center at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. TA and SP will portray an array of patient problems for teaching and assessment. They assist the students’ success by accurately and consistently recreating the history, personality, physical findings, emotional structure and response patterns of an actual patient. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years old.

Comfortable being interviewed and/or examined by a diverse student population.

Communicate with faculty, staff and students in a professional and respectful manner. Preferred Qualifications Essential Functions and percent of time: Teaching Assistants (TA)
10% – Periodic training to learn the characteristics required to portray an actual patient for a given medical interview.
60% – Portray an actual patient during an interview session with a medical student.
30% – Provide fair and accurate written feedback to medical student regarding their interaction with you during the interview.

Simulated Patient (SP)
10% – Periodic training to learn the characteristics required to portray an actual patient for a given medical exam.
60% – Portray an actual patient during a simulated interview and exam session with a medical student.
30% – Provide fair and accurate verbal and written feedback to medical student regarding their interaction with you during the exam. Essential Functions and percent of time (cont'd): Non-Essential Functions and percent of time: Working Conditions Professional clinical setting in exam or conference rooms.
