NYU Shanghai's Computer Science program is seeking Full-time Teaching Associates, starting in February 2025. This position is based in Shanghai, China, and requires a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week. The role involves a combination of teaching, academic support, as well as administrative responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the program.

 

Responsibilities:
Full-time Teaching Associates will work closely with faculty to support undergraduate computer science courses such as Introduction to Computer Programming, Machine Learning, Discrete Mathematics, and other courses. In addition to teaching-related tasks, they will assist in organizing and supporting academic and student activities, as well as contributing to administrative work related to the programs.

Key duties include:
• Preparing teaching materials, labs, and assignments
• Grading homework and exams
• Leading recitations, quizzes, and discussions
• Proctoring exams
• Maintaining course attendance and grading records
• Holding regular office hours and providing one-on-one support to students
• Managing and responding to course-related emails
• Maintaining and updating course material webpages
• Acting as a liaison between students and professors
• Organizing and supporting academic events and student activities
• Assisting with administrative tasks related to different programs
• Handling other miscellaneous projects as assigned by the supervisors

Qualifications Must have already obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field Previous teaching experience in Computer Science or related courses in English is a plus
• In-depth knowledge of the discipline Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python)
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Passion for higher education, teaching, and supporting student success
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
