Team Lead, AACU Check and Item Processing

The role is responsible for departmental projects, metrics, etc., often in partnership with the department manager, and also performs daily functions associated with check operations, dispositioning, processing, reconciling and ensuring compliance on all check transactions for the Credit Union. **What you'll do** + Lead departmental projects, often in partnership with supervisor + Research and analyze potential initiatives to streamline and automate departmental processes + Develop and maintain departmental metrics + Create, revise, test and maintain department policies and procedures to ensure strict compliance of Reg CC and other Federal Banking laws + Complete operational work processing checks, items, returns, etc. (approximately 50-70% of work time spent) + Coordinate return items with members, outside vendors, the Federal Reserve Bank and other institutions + Assist other departments with check resolution, member inquiries and related accounting general ledger balancing + Log, balance, research and make necessary GL, account adjustments and/or returns + Process stop pays and check batching + Complete daily balancing and branch closing + Understand and be familiar with Federal Reserve and Catalyst software and processes around checks, with the ability to troubleshoot anomalous issues + Participate or lead in the training of new departmental employees + Perform other duties as assigned + The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act. **All you'll need for success** **Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience** + High school diploma or GED + Intermediate Excel and Word experience **Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience** + Previous customer/member service experience + Previous banking or Credit Union experience + Previous experience working on or leading projects + National Check Payments Certification (NPC) and/or other professional certifications applicable to the role, or willingness to work toward such certification(s) upon hire **Skills, Licenses & Certifications** + Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software + Ability to exercise excellent customer service skills + Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks and function as an integral part of a team + Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and written + Ability to analyze operations and data as well as develop metrics + Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines under high-volume pressure + Ability to cross-train and perform any role assigned within department + Ability to interact professionally with all employees and Credit Union members + Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision + Ability to self-motivate with strong organization skills and capacity for attention to detail + Ability to work extended hours in support of business needs + Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance + Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks **What you'll get** Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: + Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
