Team Lead, Shpbd HR Strat&Svcs

Position Summary:

 

This position reports to Mgr, Shipboard HR Strategy & Services. In this position, the Team Leader is responsible to lead the team of Specialists and Recruiters who provide short-and long-term work force recruiting and scheduling services. These services meet the operational guidelines from the Manager and Fleet Operations Management and provide the workforce needs of the fleet.

 

The team leader ensures that the team complies with the processes and procedures established by Fleet Par Levels; operational initiatives required for scheduling, and the placement of new hires. Provides on the job training, and identifies the best recruitment sources for the specific needs. Liaisons with the Logistics and Projects Specialist position to proactively plan for heavy travel seasons, restrictions, limited travel periods, or other instance where workforce-scheduling needs will increase.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Works closely with team members to ensure timely and accurate scheduling. Supervises compliance to established Par Levels, Step-Up, Team, Rotations and other operational initiatives Works with Global Hiring Partners to ensure recruiting and confirmation of returning or joining CFM to ensure standards are met and maintained in accordance with company guidelines Ensures team members follow an established process to place suitable candidate selections on ships. Clear understanding of GAP Pool processes by all team members maintained in a ¿ready to work¿ Pool of qualified and experienced candidates. Clear understanding of the various brands on board, lifestyle and our brand service philosophies for communication with potential candidates. Ensure all team members understand the communication of policies and procedures. Timely processing of HP invoices for New Hires and confirmation of returning CFMs for timely payment within 30 days of receipt. Seeks to improve and optimize the team¿s effectiveness in the scheduling and logistics processes. Ensures that team follows short and long-term work force plan (schedules) for shipboard customers. Functions as a liaison between Corporate Travel, Shipboard Management, and external hiring sources to ensure the team coordinates and optimizes logistics for ¿just in time,¿ recruitment. Works and meets regularly with client Managers of various operational departments and services (i.e., Hotel, F&B, Entertainment, etc.) to determine scheduling and planning concerns.  Provides on-the-job training to team members to improve current performance and enhance future development.  Work closely with recruiters to ensure best recruitment sources, candidate selection, standardized selection criteria, continuous replacement, and maintenance of experienced candidate pool. Ensures complete and accurate employee data tracking within the Enterprise One System for all CFM Personal Data from point of hire including all Crew Movement.  Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

 

Experience in one or more of the following functions; workforce scheduling, planning, recruiting, and shipboard crew administration. Knowledge of automated human resources systems preferred. Good communication skills; reads, writes and speaks English and has interpretative skills for oral and written instructions. Must be able to travel internationally and domestically.  Communication skills in second language strongly preferred (Spanish, French, German, or Italian) Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety of Microsoft software packages such as Excel and Word. 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

Leads the day-to-day activities of the team in recruiting, scheduling, and logistics functions. Applies knowledge and gains experience in supervisory skills. Knowledgeable of world geography and time differences.  Knowledgeable of immigration and visa requirements related to seafarers in various geographical areas. Applies knowledge of flag and port state regulations related to shipboard positions.

 

Understands general concept of the shipboard organization. 

 

Ability to apply policies and practices involved in the Human Resources function.  Ability to develop, manage and lead a team in a positive and productive manner. Able to administer performance management process using coaching and counselling to improve performance. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions in a multinational environment consisting of department heads, managers, co-workers, and shipboard employees.  Ability to recognize process improvements and make recommendations for change. Work productively and lead a team under tight time constraints and stressful situations. Able to travel internationally and domestically. Able to read, speak and write English to understand and interpret written procedures, give and receive instructions in written and verbal form and effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, and shipboard employees. Know and understand the needs, wants, job skills, and dynamics of the positions/jobs the team works on by meeting with the recruiter on a regular basis.

The employee may regularly move about the office complex, dock, or vessel, ascend and descend the vessel, travel, and lift, pull/push or move 10 pounds. This position requires travel internationally and domestically aboard ship.
