Job Summary:

The Team Lead of Unified Underwriting Support oversees daily operations of a growing team supporting both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines underwriting processes. This role provides leadership, coaching, and accountability to Assistant Underwriters and Policy Assurance Specialists, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of underwriting support services. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact for departmental requests, requiring the ability to respond quickly and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, expanding environment.

Responsibilities:

 Lead and supervise a team of Assistant Underwriters and Policy Assurance Specialists across Personal and Commercial Lines.

Monitor daily workflows to ensure timely completion of endorsements, inspections, policy issuance, and documentation tasks.

Coordinate team assignments and prioritize department requests for underwriting support.

Serve as liaison between underwriting, operations, and agency partners to resolve escalated issues.

Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to foster professional growth and accountability within the team.

Develop, track, and report on team performance metrics to leadership.

Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps and recommending workflow enhancements.

Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of carrier guidelines, state regulations, and underwriting requirements.

Requirements:

Strong leadership skills with prior supervisory or team lead experience.

Broad understanding of Personal Lines and Commercial Lines underwriting support functions.

Excellent time management and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments and stakeholders.

Proficiency with insurance systems, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.

Ability to respond quickly to department needs and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience:

Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting support, customer service, or operations with at least 1 year in a leadership or team lead role.
