Job Description:

What is the role?

This position is the senior person in charge of the shift (TBD), providing direction and guidance to a small team of warehouse workers.  This position is a working employee who works alone on assigned tasks as well as works with others.  On a regular daily basis this position will be responsible for ensuring all work has been completed by the team by the end of the shift and closing the warehouse. 

This position pays $25-28/hr

What you will be doing:

Under the guidance of the Warehouse Supervisor, you will:

Maintain a positive attitude and promote high team moral while focusing on inventory control, health & safety, employee performanceResponsible for developing, training and mentoring team members to enhance distribution center and Pet Valu business knowledge.Promote a culture of safety at every opportunity with employees. Ensure safety procedures are being followed strictly and that work is performed in a safe and efficient mannerManages continuous improvement projects and has an ability to react to change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned.Responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of performance appraisals. Provides effective coaching and feedback on a regular basis to direct reports.Supervise the daily work flow in the areas of order filling, picking, receiving and truck loadingIdentify process improvements, increase efficiency and productivity to achieve budget targets and operational metricsWork collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective internal and external customer serviceEnsure standard productivity and error standards are consistently metEnsure housekeeping is maintained daily at acceptable levels within the facility and around the building perimeter and shipping doors. Comply with infestation control program.Ensure security of merchandise and property by adhering to all established policies, practices and procedures.Will be expected to complete different functions such as replenishment, putaways, various inventory tasks, and any other business needs as instructed by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications:

Experience and Education

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate under pressure and possess strong interpersonal skillsStrong group presentation skillsAbility to communicate verbally and writtenIntermediate computer skills including Microsoft OfficeFlexibility to work different and varied night time work scheduleMust have a minimum of 2 years experience on a Reach Truck

Preferred:

Minimum two years supervisory experienceJHSC & first aid certification

Technical Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
