Summary:
Under general supervision trains and guides the activities of a group of Environmental Services Aides or Laundry Aides as well as performing a variety of aide functions for the general purpose of providing a clean hospital environment for clean linens for patients employees and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Assists with training and orientation of new employees and provides functional guidelines on a day to day basis. Assists with work related problems counsels disciplines verbally may suspend employees for remainder of a shift in the absence of a supervisor. Recommends disciplinary action to the supervisor/Site Manager.
Prepares daily payroll vacation and holiday schedules completes employee performance evaluations and maintains attendance reports and daily control sheets as assigned.
Fills in for all housekeeping and laundry supervisors on days off weekends vacation sickness and is responsible for overseeing the complete operation of the designated area in which he or she is working.
Maintains level of all supplies in assigned areas such as cleaning and paper supplies hand soaps mops etc. and notifies the Store Room Clerk/Supervisor/Site Manager to requisition additional supplies needed.
Performs Quality control inspections and patient interviews in designated areas checks quality of linen when being processed and sees that all employees perform duties in a safe and timely manner.
Regularly performs functions of aides such as operating washers and dryers floor refinishing carpet shampooing and cleaning of all hospital areas.
Rotates and performs all duties at other AMC sites as needed.
Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established department policy and the Fleet Risk Control and procedures.
Other information:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
High School level of education with the ability to perform basic numerical calculations.
Supervisory and interpersonal kills to effectively interact with departments in discussing needs and resolving problems and complaints and to coordinate and direct activities of small group of service personnel.
Knowledge of department functions in order to assess user needs determine and set priorities evaluate effectiveness and recommend changes to policies and procedures.
Knowledge of personal computers and related software.
Must have a good driving record meet and maintain the appropriate and valid driver licenses in order to operate motor vehicles as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and in accordance with Lifespan Fleet Risk Control Policy.
EXPERIENCE:
One to two years on-the-job experience to become familiar with policies and procedures of the department user departments supplies materials and equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Continuous walking standing and bending.
Frequent heavy lifting is required.
Exposure to varying hot and cold temperatures and unpleasant odors in the work areas.
