Team Lead for Smart Buildings

Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a strong technical lead for a growing team of engineers working on backend services, which are part of Building X. Building X is a platform and suite of applications focused on Smart Buildings. It provides common look and feel and shared services, creating an environment which allows the integration of applications focused on different types of roles – building owners, facility managers, operators and others.

Responsibilities:

Lead and set direction for a team of 3 to 5 software engineers. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of backend cloud services on AWS. Act as single point of contact for stakeholders in Switzerland and other countries involved in product development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the developed services. Contribute hands on to development and DevOps tasks. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices. Manage project timelines and deliverables. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

We expect

Education:

·    University education (a minimum of Bachelor’s degree)

Experience:

·    5+ years of experience in software development

·    3+ years of experience in team and project leadership

Mandatory skills:

·    Strong knowledge of backend development and cloud services, particularly AWS.

·    Proficiency in programming languages such as Go and Java, preferably Go.

·    Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.

·    Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).

·    Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).

·    Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Optional skills:

·    Experience with working in agile environment

·    Background from construction or building oriented SW development projects

·    Experience with complex system integration projects / environments

Language Requirements:

·    English (B2 minimum)
