Team Lead VAT Compliance
What You'll Do We are building cloud-based tax compliance solutions to handle every transaction in the world. Imagine every transaction you make—every tank of gas, cup of coffee, or pair of sneakers, every movie ticket, or streamed song. Nearly every time you make a purchase, physical or digital, there is an accompanying unique and nuanced tax compliance calculation. What Your Responsibilities Will Be Team Management Manage SUT filing/preparation tasks for a team of 10 or more. Oversee and manage tax processing tasks within the team (approximately 50% of the time). Play a crucial part in hiring talent and grooming them for growth within the team. Experience in managing performance discussions with team members regularly. Employee Development Own attainment of high employee satisfaction and retention; lead the development of programs and initiatives to achieve this. Understand training needs and collaborate with SMEs and L&D. Develop as a people manager by providing guidance, coaching, and training, and conducting regular 1:1s. Project Management Communicate project objectives, desired outcomes, and measures of success. Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders without escalation. Participate in functional area meetings, providing feedback and speaking on specific topics. Tax Compliance and Reporting Ensure all tax filing submissions are completed on time, accurately, and to Avalara targets for efficiency and profitability. Follow and establish strong processes around filing tasks across relevant jurisdictions. Maintain up-to-date applications-specific data and reporting. Identify gaps in processes and propose appropriate corrective measures. Customer Focus Build trusted client relationships in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Ensure a customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills to convey information clearly to clients. Maintain profitable revenue from extra hours performed on client issues. Proactive Problem Solving Understand possible automation areas and partner with Engineering/Product teams. Be proactive rather than reactive in managing potential challenges and people issues. Play an important role in all executive and client escalations, proposing appropriate RCAPA for future improvements. What You'll Need to be Successful Qualifications Overall experience of 8-10 years, with a background in a shared services model. Experience managing teams and engaging with business stakeholders outside India. Sales & Use SME experience and a minimum of 1-2 years managing a team is a plus. Proven experience in goal setting and performance appraisals for team members. Skills Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills and proficiency in other MS Office applications. Ability to keep the team motivated under all circumstances with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Attention to detail, with a drive to continuously improve. Results-oriented, highly organized, motivated, and driven to succeed. Ability to work under pressure and be self-driven, result-oriented, and deadline-driven. Education MBA in Finance (preferably).
