Position SummaryTeam Leader, Production will be responsible for leading team members and providing expert knowledge in fabrication of Stainless Steel and Aluminum in a high-quality medical device manufacturing environment.
What You'll do as a Team Leader, Production Provide expert knowledge, instruction, and oversight of the team in their performance. Recommend and develop tools and fixtures for improving quality and productivity. Train and guide production staff during the introduction of new production items. Lead work over various work stations. This includes but is not limited to; ensure production lines are running, fill in for employee breaks as needed; troubleshoot minor problems with equipment and parts; provide all tracked information (counts, scrap, etc.); make suggestions regarding employee issues (merit, disciplinary, etc.); make suggestions regarding process improvements/changes. Measure production rates by the hour and complete proper documentation to management. Maintain scrap counts for proper inventory adjustments. Ensure assigned work group completes all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed. Promotes a safe work environment at all times, ensuring the use of all prescribed safety equipment and observation of all safety rules stated in the Associate Handbook. Ensures conformance to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Associate Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS® Management. Updates SQDC boards and presents information during Gemba Walks. The Experience, Skills and Abilities NeededRequired:
High School Diploma or GED. 2 - 5 years of Welding experience. Experience working in a solid metal fabrication/machining environment required.
Preferred:
1-2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role strongly preferred. The following leadership skills are required: taking the initiative, initiating action, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, translating ideas into specific tasks, gaining confidence and trust of others. Welding experience in flux core, MIG, stick, carbon steel preferred. Working with assembly of multiple components and aspects of metals.
Other:
Must be able to use prescribed manual processes in TIG welding of stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum. Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols. Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages. Must have strong math and troubleshooting proficiency and basic computer skills. Must have basic welding inspection knowledge and conduct visual inspection. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
