Team Leader, Midwest Region CIS RUC
We are looking for a strategic and dynamic leader to partner with our branches and distribution to manage retention, cross sell & profitability across the Midwest Region CIS RUC book of business.
Responsibilities: Responsible for retention, growth and fostering of internal and external relationships of the Midwest CIS RUC book. Directly accountable for 3 RUC Underwriters. Top Industry Practices within the Midwest Region CIS RUC portfolio include Manufacturing, Professional Services, Other Services, Wholesale Trade, and Food. This Team Leader is responsible for hiring, retention, performance management, compensation and technical training and development across the RUC underwriting team. The Manager is also responsible for advancing best practices specific to retention & cross sell across the Midwest RUC team. Specific responsibilities include:
P&L - Accountability (premium, profitability, growth, retention, and expense plans/results) for the CIS RUC business across the Midwest Portfolio Management/LOB - Direct profit and loss responsibility for RUC business; coordination, agency management, retention & growth responsibility across the RUC CIS product portfolio. Coordination and collaboration with the P&C Underwriting Center and Operations Leadership for book management & servicing. Underwriting Strategy Execution - Manages execution of renewal underwriting strategies. Technical UW/Referral Resource - In collaboration with Product and TUMs, serves as technical resource for referrals and underwriting authority for the RUC team based on technical background. Point of contact for RUC accounts which fall outside of the team’s authority; coordinate efforts with Home Office/Product and Segment leaders. Quality Assurance - Monitors underwriting quality through quarterly self-audits, referral interactions, and Corporate Underwriting audits. Cross Sell – Effective cross sell off the RUC book that optimizes profitability and enables even stronger retention as an immediate result. Coordination & Collaboration with the Branch Network - Works closely with Midwest Region CI Managers & CIS Team Leads to help drive successful retention across our CIS RUC book and coordinate cross sell execution across the Region for the CIS portfolio of CI business. Staff Development and Staff Administration (including Performance Management and Compensation) for the underwriting team – Accountable for new hire onboarding, training and developing, succession planning, culture of inclusion, coaching and mentoring and retention of staff. Ensure effective deployment of staff for the Midwest RUC CIS team. Oversee workflows, staffing resources, and appropriate application of technology to ensure efficient, cost-effective field operation. Collaborate with HR on performance management and compensation process.
