SUMMARY
The Property Accounting Team Lead leads a team of accountants and produces accurate and timely financial information for clients. The Property Accounting Supervisor is further responsible for maintaining comprehensive records and documentation for client audit purposes.
The Property Accounting Team Lead is accountable for delivering client financial reporting through internal operational effectiveness of the accounting and internal controls functions, that will support and produce positive customer experiences for our external client base. He/she is also accountable for producing creative ideas about how to improve financial performance through innovation and effective measurements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Do level one reviews of financial reports completed by Accountants. Provide timely and accurate financial information and a basic analysis of that information to clients. Willing to work for extended hours on month-end days. Implement policies and procedures that ensure adequacy of internal controls, safekeeping of assets, efficient operations and compliance with GAAP accounting rules, as appropriate. Assists in development of long-term strategies for growth and maintenance of department resources. Provide leadership for the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure adequacy of internal controls, safekeeping of assets, efficient operations and compliance with GAAP accounting rules, as appropriate. Continually assess the capabilities and performance of the Accounting staff under his or her supervision. Guide, support and mentor staff, developing continuous growth opportunities. Review Accountant functions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and that policies and procedures are being adhered to. Assign duties and schedule projects as needed, communicate job expectations, and work with direct reports to set professional goals. Recommend technology focused solutions to enable people and system scalability. Develop & maintain supportive working relationships with associates and support team leaders. Escalate and communicate problems/statuses to management and appropriate team members Communicate recommendations for process improvements Decrease turnaround times Work cooperatively and jointly with internal/external customers to provide quality service and to streamline workflows Work special projects when necessaryREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Prior experience in general ledger accounting is required Prior experience with residential or commercial property accounting or multi-client financial preparation and reporting is required Prior experience with MRI, Realpage or other property accounting systems is highly desirable Strong oral and written communication skills needed Solid documentation skills, writing and reporting Strong interpersonal skills Strong research and problem-solving skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft products Ability to see people as individuals and views working with a company that has built strong Associate and customer loyalty as a plus in his/her career. Demonstrates flexible management style and can grow through the development of subordinates who are able to make suggestions which can improve the quality service and efficiency of the total operation.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
5 – 10 years related GL accounting experience 2-5 years supervisory experience in managing a team of more than 5 Accountants Bachelor’s degree in Accounting CPA or Master’s degree not required
