Team Leader Motion Design
Overview We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Motion Design in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of animators adn motion designers that concept, design and produce compelling 3D and 2D graphics/animations, to be used online, in-store, for streaming, and on social media. Essential Functions Create motion graphics and animations that illustrate the features/benefits of new and emerging Garmin technologies/devices Create motion graphics and animations that illustrate the features and benefits of new and emerging Garmin technologies and devices. Work with Marcomm Managers, Account Management, Project Management and Post Producer to plan for completion of projects on time. Manage a team to create 3D and 2D animations and VFX deliverables. Deeply understands and communicates the need for executing all file sizes and deliverable needs within production kick off and completion of deliverables to EMEA/APAC countries and ensures all team members are aligned. Communicates early when issues arise so that recovery can begin immediately. Must be extremely organized and detail oriented. Continue to modify and create processes that work best for launch timelines. Understand the scope of project, in order appropriately assign projects to team members which help them grow their skills but also aligns with other projects starting and finishing. Review and update each team members status sheet and stay up to speed with all incoming creative on all streaming videos, social content including reels, product renders – all incoming projects. Meet weekly with each team member to understand, coach and guide the associate do their jobs as best they can on current projects, scope of future projects, day-to-day issues and career topics helping to guide them with Garmin’s Mission, Vision and Values. Communicate with Global Executive Producer (GEP) to remain in alignment with global creative initiatives, adding solution-based ideas to solving problems. Track education, training, software, and equipment to ensure they are in line with security measures and up to date as needed. Monitor budgets with GEP to find efficient use of software and equipment. Work with GEP to interview and recruit new hires when needed. Network and stay involved in the motion and ad community. Responsible for doing evaluations and assessing salary increases or promotions on a yearly basis for direct reports via internal portal system. Write and conduct year end performance evaluations/reviews for each team member. Stay up to date on current design/animation trends in the community. Communicate to designers to inspire competitive/progressive work. Mentor and grow all team members. Encourage a healthy and supportive group with Garmin values. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Motion Design/Animation or related field AND a minimum of 7 years professional motion graphic design experience Minimum of 1 year in a lead or supervisory role Must be team-oriented; possess a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and ability to work well with others (collaborate) Must possess demonstrated strong design and concepting skills Must possess experience leading/directing motion graphics in collaboration with other designers and production professionals Must possess experience presenting creative to clients in a way they can easily understand Must possess strong proficiency working with visual effects; motion tracking; compositing and rotoscoping Must possess demonstrated proficiency using After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator or other equivalent software Must possess a portfolio-reel demonstrating exceptional understanding and use of motion, imagery, layout, design, color, texture and typography Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, with the ability to work proactively/independently with minimal supervision and superior organizational/analytical skills with keen attention to detail/quality Desired QualificationsAfter Effects expressions or equivalent After Effects expressions or equivalent Mocha Pro or equivalent Cinema 4D or equivalent Video production experience Houdini Software, Redshift, V-Ray and DaVinci Resolve a plus Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
