MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS   (MUST meet minimum qualifications to be considered)

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and previous leadership experience or current lateral position or higher. 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficient in basic math skills, previous experience interpreting blue prints and technical manuals, effective verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to effectively train and mentor new/existing associates.   Solid understanding of TPS and lean manufacturing techniques, production auditing and the ability to interpret production data to improve production processes.  Must have ability to prioritize and flexibility to meet changing demands. Leadership skills include coaching and counseling, motivating associates and resolving conflict.  Must exhibit knowledge and experience in TS16949 systems and procedures, root cause analysis and process improvement, proficient in basic computer skills. 

Bi-lingual competency highly preferred in languages that reflect the Battle Creek community.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership to team, communicate results and issues to adjacent shifts, complete manpower plans, conduct daily quality and productivity start-up meetings.  Train associates and temporaries, audit training and identify future training needs. Ensure TS16949 adherence and control and monitor production activities & schedules, accurately complete daily/monthly production reports. Work effectively with support departments and teams. Perform root cause analysis and use past practice, associate input and DMMI standards to identify problems.   Evaluate, adjust, improve, forecast and help prepare countermeasures to meet targets in safety, morale and delivery. Effectively interpret blueprints and technical manuals for associates and be familiar with DMMI policies as it relates to associate concerns and issues

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job you may be asked to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift or carry component parts weighing up to 35 pounds-lifting parts in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist, use hands to handle or feel parts, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, work on the production floor as needed, and frequent phone use and typing.
