About the Role:

Join KPFF’s Prime Design Group as a Team Leader in Northern California, where you’ll oversee dynamic, multi-disciplinary projects for public agencies, transportation authorities, and industrial clients. Lead diverse teams, drive innovative solutions, and manage projects from inception to completion. Your role also includes business development, expanding client relationships, and identifying new opportunities.

This role offers flexibility between our San Francisco and Sacramento offices, with the potential to establish a new office. KPFF is committed to your growth, providing comprehensive training to position you as a leader in our team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead and Inspire: Manage, mentor, and guide a team of engineers and consultants, fostering excellence in project delivery and client satisfaction. Project Oversight: Oversee the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through construction and closeout, ensuring all projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. Business Development: Actively engage in identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, cultivating new clients, and expanding service offerings to enhance our market presence. Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, agencies, contractors, and consultants, becoming their trusted advisor. Innovative Solutions: Address challenges with innovative, effective solutions to keep projects on track. Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with a wide range of disciplines, including structural engineering, architecture, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, geotechnical, and environmental permitting.

About You:

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture/engineering, or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license in California is preferred. At least 10 years of experience in project management or team leadership within engineering or related fields. Proven experience in business development, with a track record of securing new clients and expanding services. Strong knowledge of the full project lifecycle, including conceptual design, consulting services, procurement, entitlement processes, and construction administration. Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical details in clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven organizational skills, with a strong ability to prioritize and keep the team focused on key objectives. Proficiency in industry-standard tools, such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, MS Project, AutoCAD, or Revit. A proactive, problem-solving attitude, with a passion for overcoming new challenges and driving project success.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged sitting at a desk or computer. Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs. Occasional project site visits may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on your experience, education, and skills. Qualified candidates with at least ten years of experience can expect a salary between $110,000 and $160,000, along with performance-based bonuses. During the interview process, we will provide detailed information and address any questions regarding the compensation package and benefits.
