The ideal candidate will be located in our Philadelphia office and will be responsible for managing and developing a group of 3 to 6 track engineers, providing technical expertise and managing and delivering track and railroad engineering projects. We are looking for an engineer that is experienced and knowledgeable in track design from the feasibility/conceptual stage through design and construction. HNTB is delivering the largest and most complex rail projects in Pennsylvania and throughout the country - including Amtrak, SEPTA, LIRR, PATCO, Brightline and more. You will be a technical expert and leader that can help win and deliver railroad projects for our local and national clients. Candidates should be able to share their experience with others in a way that promotes the development of less experienced staff and improves the performance of the whole team.

Our large, local railroad engineering team has designed a variety of local projects, from interlocking replacement, curve modifications, infrastructure replacement and conceptual design. HNTB is a leader in some of the most complex and largest infrastructure projects around the country including Susquehanna River Bridge Replacement.

What You'll Do:

Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, orMaster’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope.

What We Prefer:

Enjoys opportunities to advise and guide staff throughout the design stages, including time devoted to mentoring and growing skills of less experienced staff8 years relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) certificationDepth of technical experience in track design engineeringExperience coordinating with other disciplines such as OCS, Traction Power, Signals, Structural, etc.Proficiency using Bentley design platformsProjectWise and Bluebeam Revu experience
