Role Summary:
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Team Manager to join our staff in our Global Innovation Center. The candidate will join the Technology Organization at our GIC supporting all our coating’s businesses. Under the guidance of the VP of Advanced Innovation, the successful candidate will:
Plan projects, allocate resources and manage the corresponding budgets.Establish, coach, and develop teams of technical professionals.Ensure the execution and implementation of projects, adherence to safety standards, and maintenance of operational conditions at the GIC.Coordinate activities and participate with relevant business stakeholders.Engage directly with customers to understand their needs, improve product performance, and champion the voice of the customer within the Axalta organization by incorporating their feedback into product development.Key Responsibilities:
Lead complex technology and product development projects to assess the feasibility of various novel coatings applications.Generate detailed project plans and identify key risks, inter-dependencies, and critical data to support rapid decision-making.Communicate scientific information and development status in a clear and audience appropriate way.Structure and communicate the data and technical program status leading to product approvals with end customers.
Manage and guide the development and optimization of coatings formulas using appropriate design of experiments and statistical tools to meet film properties, application conditions and specifications as provided by the customers.
Support the technical field units for the products in our customers’ facilities. Specific areas include:participation in trials and extended launch programs to assure optimal performance of the products.problem solving and troubleshooting.preparation of reports, presentations, technical support documents and value supporting case studies to assist in problem solving and communication throughout the Axalta and customer organization.
Ability to lead and / or be a significant contributor in cross-functional teams to support product development, scale-up, and manufacturing and sales support.
Help to develop a next generation team of scientists and engineers. Lead critical thought and peer review in a team setting. Define technical development plans for junior team members. Challenge the team to think beyond the current practices and the state of the art.
Specific Technical knowledge:
Chemistry, organic chemistry, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering-formulation
Product optimization by statistically designed experiments.

Matrix Reporting Relationship(s): Role must collaborate cross-functionally to achieve objectives.Direct Reports: Assigns work to and manages performance of scientists and technicians.Basic Qualifications:
B.S/M. S / Diploma. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or closely related discipline is required.Management experience of leading teams (10-15 people total with 3-9 direct reports)The ideal candidate will have five (5) to fifteen (15) years of experience in the chemical industry. Experience in product optimization in the coatings industry is highly preferred.Candidate must have outstanding written and oral communication skills.Fluency in Native language & EnglishAdditional Qualifications:
Effective project Management and execution skills.Ability to work and influence collaboratively and effectively within a global and diverse population.Ideal candidate is results-oriented, creative, and a self-starter who demonstrates technical excellence and is comfortable working in a team environment.Willingness to travel up to 20%.Key Behavioral Competencies:
