THE OPPORTUNITY
Ventia is seeking a dynamic and resilient leader to manage (together with your Supervisors) a large, fast-paced team of up to 50 field-based lawnmowers. In this critical role, you will oversee operations while providing hands-on support and guidance, balancing individual needs with broader team objectives.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to our Area Manager and working closely with the broader operations team, you will enjoy leading by example and being accessible and visible to your teams with a regular presence in the field.
The work scope will extend across many aspects of garden maintenance and the upkeep of our public greenspaces. You will also be responsible for the implementation of key operational and service deliveries driving quality, productivity, and safety onsite.
Some key responsibilities include
Overseeing teams of Horticulturalists, Gardeners, Trainees and Spray operations to deliver a high standard of work to pre-set schedules across the North Shore public greenspaces. Daily and weekly reporting to management Planning and monitoring daily work schedules and productivity Liaising with stakeholders as a direct point of communication and face of Ventia Working with inhouse H+S team to drive and lead a positive safety culture. Auditing worksites to ensure quality and safety
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate is organized, capable of tackling new challenges head-on, and has strong problem-solving skills to handle conflicting priorities. You'll need to step back and view the larger scope of operations, while staying hands-on with day-to-day team management. This role demands someone who can lead with resilience, adapt quickly to unexpected situations, and maintain a calm and focused approach under pressure.
Other desirable experience and qualities
Level 4 Horticultural qualification or equivalent would be desirable Previous experience delivering to a pre-set schedule of work in a commercial environment Strong administrative and systems skillset Previous experience client facing or stakeholder management Understanding of agrichemicals and regulations Full 1 Manual NZ driver’s licence
