Job Summary

 

The Advanced Installation Tech is responsible for installation and repair of telecommunications equipment and services located in customer locations and co-location sites.   The Advanced Installation tech will have full understanding of all aspects of installation and troubleshooting of Telecommunication equipment.  Have thorough understanding of Ethernet, TDM, SONET, IP, and VOIP.   Will work with minimal supervision and under direction of the Installation manager and Installation lead tech.   Ensures that all company quality standards are met and all circuits tested as per company testing procedures.  

Responsibilities

 

Assemble, Configure and Install electronic components supporting Ethernet, DWDM, SONET, IP, and VOIP protocols at Data Center environments and customer premise locations.   Assemble, Configure and install electronic components supporting multiple Video protocols such as, TV1, ASI, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, SDI, HD-SDI. Connect AC or DC power to electronic components and verify backup power functionality. Install proper grounding of equipment isolating ground cables from power and signal cables. Provision and configure electronic devices per Design Layout Record (DLR) using the latest Methods & Procedures.  Provision, Test and turn up network facility circuits as per current Altice B2B testing procedures and Methods & Procedures. Provision, Test and turn up customer facing circuits as per current Altice B2B testing procedures and Methods & Procedures. Install NIDs and circuits at various cell site locations throughout NYMA area, typically on commercial building roof tops. On occasions, be assigned special projects and high-profile orders in order to meet an excellent customer service experience and meets customer’s needs. Responsible for accurate data entry into various databases within the Altice databases including all applicable testing results. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime and on-call rotation as required. Qualifications

 

10+ years’ experience in Installation, provisioning and repairing telecommunication equipment. Thorough understanding of all phases of network installation, including Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, Ethernet, SIP, TDM, HFC modem, WAN/LAN and TCP/IP applications. Thorough knowledge of multiple Video protocols such as, TV1, ASI, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, SDI, HD-SDI. Thorough knowledge of legacy SONET & TDM protocols such as, T1, T3, OC3, OC12, OC48 and OC192 desirable. Strong experience and knowledge with advanced test sets (VeEx TX300, TX320, and UX400) (Leader Video Generator LT4400) Optical DATA analyzers, Fiber Optic Light meters. AC and DC power meters. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook email. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong time management skills. Excellent analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills.
