As a key member of the Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering (VPSE) team, you will provide technical leadership to the newly formed Purge, Evap and Fuel System Powertrain System Tech Team (PSTT). The PSTT will cover all aspects of the system from hardware, sensors, actuators, controls and OBD algorithms that govern the subsystem performance. This is a hybrid role both onsite and remote.
You'll have...
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar/equivalent.6+ years of experience in Powertrain Calibration.Ability to work cross-functionally across various organizations.Strong problem solving skills.Technical Specialist evidence book required.Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion for customer – inherent self-starter with strong drive for results.In-depth understanding of powertrain controls, emissions components, and test methods.Strong skills in project planning and management – must have experience in managing complex projects.Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution, and management reviews.Ability to manage/resolve simultaneous challenging complex technical issues.NOTE: After the interview, selected candidates must provide an evidence book detailing education, technical experience, knowledge and competence, key accomplishments, recognitions, training, publications, patents, and any other supporting evidence pertinent to the role.

Lead the cross functional PSTT to design and optimize robust and reliable purge, evap and fuel sub-systems, that meet quality objectives with competitive overall system cost.The PSTT will be responsible for implementing new technologies as well as using quality data as an input to constantly re-evaluate the implementation of existing technologies for continuous improvement.Lead the PSTT in developing and implementing robust OBD diagnostics on new and existing technologies to meet regulatory requirements.
What you'll do...
As the PSTT lead, you will define key deliverables for the team, and chart and monitor workplan to achieve team goals.Lead FMA systems level approach to subsystem design and issue resolution through use of boundary diagrams, system interfaces, P-diagrams, RCL and FMEA.Define component design rules to optimize overall system performance and diagnostic capability.Lead purge/evap calibration Technical Maturity Model (TMM) training efforts.Lead creation of APR calibration rules to proactively reduce errors and respond to Global Prevent Recurrence actions.Lead/coordinate resolution of emerging QSF and other OPD issues and ensure read-across to deliver consistent cross program implementation of prevent recurrence best practices and lessons learned.Lead process improvement actions to reduce calibration development error states and improve efficiency.One of the added responsibilities of the PSTT lead, will be purge calibration SME (subject matter expert).Work with commodity teams to help resolve issues where purge calibration is a contributing factor.Emissions: Issues where purge is leading to air/fuel ratio excursions that are negatively impacting tailpipe emissions, and meeting sign-off requirements for purge % load on cycle.Drivability: Issues where purge is negatively impacting drivability during hot weather testing (eg. hot fuel handling or vapor interaction), pre-production fleet testing in VOCF or quality issues in the field.Diagnostics Interaction: Assist program teams in negotiating interactions between base purge control and diagnostics.Ownership of DVR sign-off requirements for evap.
