Tech Portfolio Analyst @MMCTech

In this role, you will oversee one or more Pods, ensuring the successful delivery of working software to production while implementing our Agile at Scale Delivery model.

We are looking for a key member of the Tech Project Management team, the Portfolio Analyst will play a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance, coordination, and management of a Domain Portfolio within the Oliver Wyman Group (OWG) Tech Project Portfolio. This position is essential for aligning our initiatives with the company's strategic vision, commitments, and objectives. The Portfolio Analyst will spearhead the development of innovative processes and standards for streamlined resource management and precise tracking of project financials.

We will count on you to:

Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with all stakeholders, including Domain Leaders, to ensure that roles and resource expectations are clearly defined and understood for each project. Facilitate cross-domain collaboration among project teams to ensure effective communication and alignment.Resource Management: Define and manage the Allocation & Capacity process to ensure that projects are staffed with the right resources possessing the necessary skills. Maintain a comprehensive database of skill sets and coordinate with project delivery teams for updates on resources within the defined Project Tool.Data-Driven Decision Making: Provide tools and processes to technology colleagues regarding project data (such as timesheets, project health, human resources, and budget) to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Oversee the time reporting process, including the development of new tracking methodologies, ensuring that all entered data is valuable for analysis.Budget Monitoring: Monitor and track all budget-related data for projects (including software, hardware, and contractors) to ensure alignment with the overall OWG Tech spending strategy. Prepare and present reports on portfolio performance, including resource allocation, budget adherence, and project outcomes.Performance Analysis: Analyse project performance metrics and provide insights to support decision-making and prioritization of projects. Effectively gather and analyse project portfolio and staffing metrics, developing new methods for identifying and assessing project KPIs.Risk Management: Collaborate with project managers to identify and track project risks and implement mitigation strategies. Address potential resource risks and issues, providing proposals for solutions to senior management when escalation is necessary.Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of portfolio management processes and tools. Support the implementation of Agile and Lean methodologies to enhance project delivery and value realization.Reporting and Communication: Track and report on the Tech Portfolio status and metrics to senior management. Provide regular reports on resource utilization and project health, assisting in the development and enhancement of project health indicators to various project portfolios.Negotiation and Relationship Management: Negotiate for financial or human resources to support multiple projects aligned with organizational objectives. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with project and Domain sponsors, customers, vendors, and other key stakeholders.Industry Awareness: Stay current with industry trends, including the integration of AI and machine learning, to enhance portfolio management practices.

What you need to have: 

Analytical Proficiency: Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to interpret data, conduct data analytics, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills both in English and Romanian.Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with strong planning and organizational skills.Project Delivery Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the project delivery lifecycle, including the ability to translate business needs into requirements and estimate budgets and timelines.Financial Acumen: Medium-level knowledge of financial models and budgeting, with the ability to monitor and manage project budgets effectively. Influence and Collaboration: Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus within the organization. Highly supportive of business ideals and strategies, demonstrating a results-oriented mindset.Facilitation and Negotiation: Strong facilitation and negotiation skills, enabling effective collaboration and conflict resolution among diverse teams.Technological Exposure: Exposure to a variety of technologies and processing environments, enhancing adaptability and understanding of technical requirements.Team Player: A collaborative team player who fosters a positive working environment and contributes to team success.Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Project management, Business Administration or a related field3+ years of project management experience and 1+ year of experience in managing large portfolios.Full knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tools (e.g., Planview, Trello, etc.).Knowledge of current trends in project management, including data-driven decision-making (data models / AI), risk management, stakeholder satisfaction and benefits realization
