Tech Service Project Manager

Technical Service Project Manager 


The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director Technical Services Support, the Service Project Manager and completes numerous projects that span multiple engineering disciplines.  This position manages and supports the implementation of installation projects, upgrades, rebuilds, and major service work for multiple customers.   The position requires strong project management and technical skills to coordinate different disciplines within the Service & Installation department. Primarily, the prospective candidate should have the ability to manage several projects that span multiple engineering disciplines. We will consider candidates with a minimum of 2 years experience as a Project Engineer or other project work and will provide development to prepare the candidate to move into roles of greater responsibility within the Service & Installation department.  

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Provide engineering expertise to Operations and Maintenance departments to help resolve various operating problems.Manage all phases from inception through equipment installation and start-up.   Responsibilities include safety, scope and cost management, field execution management, and evaluating performance after projects are in-service (e.g., closing meeting lessons learned)Coordinate with Customers, internal operations, customer maintenance, management, and other project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.Lead all phases of the project process to include project scopes, cost estimates and schedules, "Authorization for Expenditure" requests, preparation of drawings for assigned projects by working with consultants, vendors, customers, PM&A design team, etc.Coordinate the different disciplines within the PM&A engineering department on assigned projects.Manage Scope of Work and RFQ development and work closely with WestRock Procurement to evaluate and award equipment and service contracts (as needed).Initiate purchase requisitions for equipment, labor, and materials for assigned capital and repair projects.Manage the direction of consultants, contractors, and maintenance work associated with assigned projects and repairs/modifications.


What you need to succeed:

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline desired (but not necessary.) The preferred candidate will have 5+ years related experience with emphasis on engineering of capital projects but will consider a candidate with a minimum of 2 years professional experience that has a strong technical aptitude and ability to develop.Interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing disagreements are important elements.Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.Adaptability to rapidly changing working environments and operational situations.Ability to travel up to 30% as required.Physical ability to operate in paper mill environment, including light to moderate lifting, walking, and climbing, oral communication, correctable vision, and ability to work in a hot, humid, and dusty environment.Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and presentation graphics, etc.Aligned with our company values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Excellence
