Position Summary:

The Venture37 Technical Advisor, Private Sector Engagement will be a proven thought leader in developing and delivering integrated agricultural solutions that create economic growth, strengthen community resilience, improve food security and nutrition for communities around the world.  The Advisor will provide technical leadership and support to a diverse portfolio of private sector growth -oriented projects and will serve as the lead technical designer on relevant project proposals. The Advisor will develop a comprehensive and cohesive strategy to deploy innovative private sector engagement solutions that foster sustainable growth, build resilience and reduce disaster risk in complex agricultural systems around the world. The Advisor will ensure that new project proposals responsibly support private sector and stakeholders to innovate, asses’ opportunities for growth to feed a growing population, as well as manage risks and better plan and respond to current and future economic stressors. The Advisor will be aligned with Venture37’s mission and values and will represent Venture37 as a leader in private sector led government enabled growth that will boost agricultural productivity, equitable economic growth and deliver sustainable economic growth. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and write customer responsive, integrated, and adaptive technical approaches for proposals based on current evidence, research, and learning.

Serve as technical advisor for high-priority new business pursuits for primary USG clients (USAID, and USDA).

Identify and integrate technical best practices, tools, and resources to better integrate private sector into programs that are flexible and adaptable to unique agricultural and geographical contexts.

Oversee the development of innovative technical work plans and work with program technical teams to ensure that activities will deliver the intended impact outcomes, on time and on budget.

Ensure high levels of impact and customer satisfaction by providing technical and management oversight of a limited number of private sector engagement projects.

Identify and provide insights on emerging issues and trends in private sector engagement programming and its intersection with agriculture.

Develop strong client relationships to gain insights and to influence future development priorities.

Collaborate with new business team to build and execute customer and country business plans that support Venture37 strategic growth commitments.

Support Venture 37 Market systems community of practice to share learnings and build team technical capabilities.

Represent Venture37 at agriculture-focused international forums, conferences, roundtables, and other technically relevant events. 

Required Experience/Knowledge

Master’s degree in international development or related technical agricultural field.

Minimum 6 years’ experience in designing, implementing, and/or managing international agricultural development programs with a focus on resilient food security.

Experience working across sectors (e.g. agriculture/livelihoods, market systems development, private sector engagement, environment, gender, nutrition, youth).

Experience with private sector engagement solutions and applications for animal and plant agriculture.

Experience as technical advisor of successful openly competed USAID/USDA or non-US government proposals.

Experience in advising technical development program activities.

Ability to interact effectively with established networks of senior level international development professionals, donors, governments, universities, and other partners.

Experience leading and working with multi-cultural staff, including awareness of and sensitivity to working with multi-cultural groups in multiple socio-economic settings.

Proven ability to interpret MEL data and use it to adaptively manage projects.

Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills.

Ability and willingness to travel frequently, nationally, and internationally.

Salary Range: 102,000-136,500
