Posting Description
TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, BOYDEN LAB, McGovern Institute for Brain Research, to join a lab that develops cutting-edge methods for mapping the connectivity, ultrastructure, and molecular composition of the brain, and that collaboratively applies such technologies to the analysis and addressing of brain aging. Will join an energetic team of graduate students, postdocs, and research scientists working on developing, and applying, novel strategies for expansion microscopyoptical connectomics for the mouse brain; help design, optimize, and validate chemical and virally delivered labels, to enable expansion microscopy imaging of the morphology and synaptic connectivity, and the nanoscale distribution of key proteins and other biomolecules, for neurons in the mouse brain; perform chemical experiments (e.g., expansion microscopy), microscopy experiments (e.g., confocal microscopy), and tissue processing (e.g., vibratome and cryostat sectioning), applied to the mouse brain, with some experiments also performed on mammalian cell culture; perform virus (e.g., AAV) production, including basic molecular biology work (e.g., quantitative polymerase chain reaction), and cell culture tasks; and participate in regular meetings, in which experimental designs, project strategy, and relevant background literature will be discussed, aiming to develop first principles thinking, goal-oriented design, and rigorous scientific execution of experiments.
