We are assisting a leading Fit Out contractor with a turnover of over £150 million in their search for an experienced Technical Designer to join their team on a full-time basis. As Technical Designer, your role involves working closely with key design team members to produce high-quality architectural drawings and technical information bridging the gap between design and execution, ensuring projects are accurate, buildable, and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Produce detailed technical drawings and comprehensive design packages.
Undertake detailed site surveys, ensuring accurate measurements and assessments are incorporated into technical drawings and design specifications.
Participate in site and project meetings and build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders including liaising with local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Prepare detailed architectural tender and construction documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with project requirements.
Coordinate design elements, including M&E, structural, and other disciplines, ensuring seamless integration and buildability reviews to optimise construction efficiency and feasibility.
Apply value engineering principles to optimise design efficiency, material selection, and construction methods, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality project outcomes.
Maintain a strong commercial awareness, carefully considering the cost implications of design changes, working towards financially efficient solutions while upholding quality and compliance standards.
Strong knowledge of planning regulations and building control requirements, ensuring all designs comply with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Proficient in the latest version of AutoCAD with strong experience in Revit.
5+ years’ experience as Technical Designer within the commercial sector, preferably within Design & Build environment.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal teams, clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
