Your Role
As a Gensler Technical Designer with a passion for design excellence, your creativity and thoughtfulness will create opportunities in the authorship and realization of significant developments. You have developed skills in expressing design intent through modeling and presentation which enable your partnership with senior designers. In this role, you will have opportunities to evolve your existing strengths while also growing towards a leadership role in guiding our clients to design solutions.
Based in a studio of our Oakland office, you will join a team serving clients with design proposals for both new construction and major repositioning of existing properties. Many of these developments are for commercial workplace or biotech research, while we also do work in residential, higher-education, and buid-to-suit corporate headquarters. Through our close partnership with these clients, we are able to leverage design to achieve livable cities, reductions in global warming potential, and an engaging work experience for occupants of our projects.
What You Will Do
Engage directly with senior design leadership in the development of concepts and implementation
Perform design assignments that include programming client needs, diagramming and modeling conceptual strategies, and implementing design intent through document development
Develop narratives and strategies for presenting design proposals, to articulate opportunities for consideration by project stakeholders
Support communication between project team, clients, consultants, and city officials
Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
Your Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture, demonstrated with a rigorous portfolio including both academic and professional experience
3-6 years of relevant architectural experience, with a strong background in conceptual design and visualization
Proficiency in Rhino and Revit
Strong communication skills in verbal presentation, written narrative, and graphic representation
Analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to reconciling design with engineering requirements
Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required; Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard , Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification

*The base salary will be estimated between $69,300 - $85,800 plus bonuses and benefits contingent on relevant experience.
