What will you do?
You will take a lead role in winning and delivering transmission and distribution projects within Aurecon’s QLD Energy business. Aurecon’s QLD Energy business includes capability across transmission and distribution, and power generation and storage market segments, supporting a variety of clients including utilities, developers, contractors, investors and Government. This is an opportunity to join an eminent and well-established team and take on some of the most complex and pressing challenges of the energy market transformation. Aurecon has a strong pipeline of energy sector work having recently won a number of high profile projects, and is well positioned with Government and private sector clients in both QLD and more broadly across Australia to play a major role in delivering the electricity sector infrastructure of the future.
In this role as a Technical Director, you will report directly to the QLD Transmission and Distribution practice leader. You will be responsible for supporting the growth and management of the business, interacting with colleagues from across different markets, capabilities and regions, to advise our clients on the development and implementation of distribution and transmission projects across the entire development lifecycle. Roles include technical advisory, managing a portfolio of multidisciplinary detailed design projects as part of D&C, EPC or design only project delivery, as well as potential owner’s engineer and or technical due diligence opportunities.
Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’.
Provide a wealth of experience and hands-on technical leadership, to grow the Transmission and Distribution Teams’ capacity and technical capability by motivating, coordinating and mentoring staff, as well as participating and contributing at industry technical events and conferences.Provide leadership in building and maintaining relationships with our industry clients, from business development and securing a sustainable pipeline of work, through to proposal preparation and managing the financial and technical aspects in the delivery of small to large scale projects.Have well-developed and strong communication and technical report writing skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to a diverse range of clients.Work collaboratively across the business and with local and national clients, bringing diverse skillsets together through national and international work-sharing, and innovation to complex problems to successfully deliver projects.Industry recognition and profile in the field of transmission lines and/or substations, membership of professional bodies related to transmission and distribution, Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer Queensland.We know today’s complex challenges can only be solved through bringing together diverse teams of people from across our business, so there will be opportunities for you to apply your skills and creativity to projects in other geographies and markets.

You will also bring the following:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering15+ years of industry experienceStrong transmission and distribution engineering background, with a strength in HV protection and secondary system design, with a deep understanding of the multidisciplinary design requirements and relevant standards, as well as experience with construction and operation practices.IEC61850 knowledge and experience would be highly desirable.Commercial and contractual acumen. The ability to understand where to focus efforts in mitigating our risk is an important part of the role.
