Role description:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead and oversee the design and implementation of rail infrastructure projects. The Technical Director will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of design projects, from initial concept through to completion, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and innovation.

Role accountabilities:

Lead Design Projects: Manage and coordinate all design activities related to rail infrastructure projects, including track layout, station design, and signaling systems.

Develop Design Standards: Establish and implement design standards and protocols to ensure consistency, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.

Project Management: Oversee design projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.

Innovation and Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest design technologies and industry trends and implement innovative solutions to enhance rail infrastructure.

Technical Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the design team, including architects, engineers, and technicians.

Resource Management: Manage design resources, including software, tools, and materials, to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all design work meets the highest standards of quality and safety, conducting regular reviews and audits, as necessary.

Budgeting and Financial Planning: Participate in budgeting and financial planning for design projects, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.

Work Environment:

This role may require travel to various project sites and facilities.

The Technical Director will work in both office and field environments, overseeing design projects and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Rail Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in rail design projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Skills: Strong technical knowledge of rail design, excellent leadership and project management skills, ability to work under pressure, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Certifications: Relevant industry certifications are a plus.

The salary range for this position is $114,590 - $212,810. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
