Job Description Summary

If you are a big-picture thinker who can advocate, influence and go above and beyond expectations, we want to know more about you!As the Guaranteed Fixed Investment Specialist, you’ll drive the sales growth of our Fixed Annuity products within various State initiated savings programs like 529 Education Savings Plans, ABLE Plan for individuals with disabilities, State Mandated Retirement Savings Plans as well as other investment-only opportunities and savings programs like Health Savings Accounts. You will be accountable for the sales of these Fixed products for Nationwide Retirement Solutions across all markets, plan sizes and through distribution partnerships. Your primary objective is to grow sales by developing, leading, influencing and executing profitable distribution strategies. You will focus on driving adoption across the value chain – plan administrators, consultants, state governing bodies and participants in coordination with internal and external stakeholder groups.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Establish sales strategies aligned with the broader Retirement Solutions strategy as well as the Guaranteed Fixed Investment strategy to drive adoption of these products within the various savings programs.
Partner with Finance and actuary to price/underwrite opportunities that provides a competitive offer while hitting the required risk and revenue component to Nationwide.
Post-sale, leads the contract negotiation process, and partners with product owners on proper state filings and business/trading contracts.
Represents Nationwide in point-of-sale opportunities and finalist presentations specific to the Fixed Annuity products. Collaborate with internal and external sales partners to create consistent sales processes for the Guaranteed Fixed Investment business; leveraging technology where appropriate.
Achieve sales plan goals through effective direction and execution of sales activities with both internal and external distribution partners (direct and indirect reports).
Lead efforts to identify opportunities, develop solutions, gain approval and on-board third party providers with guaranteed fixed investment products requiring interaction with senior leaders at these organizations; act as the Nationwide guaranteed fixed investment product subject matter expert for third party partners.
Develop and maintain relationships with senior leaders at partner organizations to set sales goals and align on activities to meet goals.
Influence State governing bodies and third parties to utilize guaranteed fixed investment products within their savings programs.
Establish and maintain relationships with related internal areas which play a meaningful role in supporting the Guaranteed Fixed Investment business and developing competitive products and experiences.
Represent Nationwide Guaranteed Fixed Investment business with press, industry organizations, government agencies, major clients and other outside parties.
Build and maintain a highly effective sales process to support Guaranteed Fixed Investment business. Inspire a shared vision while supporting an environment of engagement and sales opportunities. Ensure personal and professional development for team members. Navigate changes in markets, industry, and products through effective communication with the team. Role model traits and outlooks that characterize successful sales professionals.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP, Retirement Solutions Business Development. Leads a small indirect, cross-functional team of fixed investment experts.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree preferred
License, Certification or Designation: Life and Health License, FINRA Series 6 preferred.
Experience: 15+ years’ experience in financial services; Fixed Annuity experience required. Experience in annuities, fixed income investments, State Savings programs, wealth management practices, financial planning, digital capabilities, and developing distribution partner relationships.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Thorough knowledge of the fixed annuity and fixed income industry and investments. Proven ability to successfully apply principles of sales, marketing and general management to address most complex sales management problems and opportunities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented and strong technical skills and proficiency. Project management skills, strong executive presence in board meetings and client presentations. Ability to directly engage consultants and intermediary partners in point of sale interactions.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
