Technical Director, Data Governance Architecture
As the Director of Data Governance Architecture, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our data platform. You will ensure the organization's data is accurate, consistent, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations. You will be working across the organization in defining, implementing, and enforcing data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, security, and accessibility. You will collaborate closely with teams, such as IT, Products and data owners to promote best practices in data management and to support the effective use of data for decision-making, analytics, dashboarding, reporting and AI.
Responsibilities
Data Governance Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, encompassing policies, standards, and procedures. Define data quality metrics and standards to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Establish data classification and tagging standards. Oversee data lineage and impact analysis. Continuously monitor and refine the data governance strategy to adapt to evolving business needs and regulatory changes Data Security: Collaborate with security teams to implement robust data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data masking. Ensure compliance with industry regulations (such as HIPAA and GDPR) and internal security policies. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to proactively address potential vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with relevant data security standards, such as FedRAMP and HITRUST. Master Data Management (MDM): Design and implement MDM solutions to ensure data consistency and accuracy across the organization. Define data stewardship roles and responsibilities. Promote data democratization to ensure relevant stakeholders have easy access to data Data Platform Architecture: Work closely with the platform architect to design and implement a scalable and secure data platform with governance embedded and enforced. Leverage Databricks where applicable to automate enforcing security and governance. Data Product Enablement: Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure they have access to high-quality data to build data products. Provide guidance on data usage and best practices. Data Governance Tools and Technologies: Evaluate and select appropriate data governance tools and technologies. Implement data quality monitoring and reporting tools. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams Legal, IT, Compliance & Ethics, Privacy, Product and Engineering to ensure alignment on data governance objectives. Evangelize data governance best practices and build a culture of data-driven decision-making. Provide oversight to make sure that all the products are being built using consistent methodologies. Provide coaching and support to development teams during blueprinting and implementation phases. Contribute to development standards to promote optimization and consistency. Develop relationships across the business to understand requirements and works closely with Product and Engineering in overseeing the implementation.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Deep understanding of data governance principles, data quality, and data security. Strong experience with data management tools and technologies, including Databricks. Proficiency in Databricks for data management, data integration and data quality. Proven ability to lead and mentor data teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field. 15 years of experience in building / designing / architecting software products/platforms. 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data engineering. Minimum 5 years of direct or indirect leadership experience, including cross-functional team leadership.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Experience working in the healthcare industry. Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake). Knowledge of industry-specific regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR). Familiarity with FedRAMP and HITRUST. Certifications in data governance or data engineering.
