Job DescriptionAECOM’s Transportation practice is seeking a candidate for the role of Director of Engineering in the Transit & Rail group. The position is located in AECOM’s Montreal office. Responsibilities for the position will include:
•Leading the engineering design for major projects and pursuits. •Managing and growing the transit & rail business across Canada which includes planning, design, testing & commissioning. •Collaborating with the north-American-wide freight and transit rail market sector leadership to share staff, share work, and win proposals. •Periodic reporting on KPIs (project progress, pursuits, wins & bookings, client satisfaction survey scores, revenue). •Tracking project performance. Following-up on project issues (financial, quality, safety, client satisfaction, lessons learned). Reporting for same. •Developing client and partner relationships. •Recruiting new staff (identifying staffing needs, cultivating key hires, writing requisitions, guiding recruiter, reviewing candidates, interviewing, recommending hires). •Developing capture plans, writing proposals, team building, and business development. •Managing engineering staff including hiring and performance management. •Managing projects, or leading the engineering effort on major projects, including preparing, monitoring and forecasting budgets, costs, scopes, project schedules, also sourcing and engaging staff, and building teams. •Managing sub-contractors and suppliers. •Supporting the ISO quality process. •Demonstrating leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E).Includes completing all assigned training, occasionally delivering key training on behalf of management, ensuring that staff have completed their training, reporting safety observations, incidents, and near misses, investigating incidents involving own staff (if any), and completing safety observations when visiting sites / offices, etc. •Some travel within Canada will be required.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 10 YORE; all including a minimum of four years of leadershipPMP or PEng or MBA or equivalent experienceExperience as a project director and/or project manager on projects/programs with capital costs of >CAD$1,000,000.
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years experience is preferred •Have staff management experience.Have experience developing and implementing successful business plans / strategiesExperience in transit and freight rail engineering, including:Experience with AREMA-based heavy-rail signal design.In depth knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations pertaining to railroad and transit signal systems and highway-rail grade crossing warning systems.Must specifically include knowledge of AREMA C&S Recommended Practices, CROR, and industry standards.Bilingual French and English speaking as a preference
