Overview

Become a Technical Director - Product Safety Assessor and Champion Consumer Confidence

In this critical role, you’ll leverage your Product Safety expertise to ensure the safety and efficacy of our innovative consumer products. As we transition more safety work in-house, you’ll be instrumental in strengthening our internal team and developing robust safety assessments. You’ll collaborate closely with our talented formulators and regulatory teams to navigate global markets and emerging trends.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Pre- and Post-Market Safety Assessments: Review toxicological studies, literature data, and other relevant information to create comprehensive safety assessments for ingredients, substances, and finished products.Safety Collaboration: Work closely with formulators and regulatory teams to develop Safety Cases, mitigation strategies, and obtain necessary approvals throughout the product development lifecycle.Proactive Risk Management: Stay ahead of the curve by actively monitoring market and consumer trends related to ingredients, both myth and science-driven.Driving Innovation: Design and conduct safety studies in support of new product development, ensuring the highest safety standards.Compliance Champion: Establish clear safety protocols and procedures to contribute to compliance in all markets we serve.Expert Analysis: Perform in-depth analyses of product components and assemblies, considering safety hazards, compliance, and trade-offs.Risk Management Leader: Conduct risk assessments, analyze changes impacting compliance and safety, define test protocols, and report findings within the risk matrix.Scientific Advocate: Act as a Qualified Person to evaluate and advise on adverse reactions, defending product safety during investigations.Regulation Authority: Continuously monitor new safety regulations to understand their implications and implement them accordingly.Consumer Champion: Become a trusted partner for marketing and sales teams by addressing consumer inquiries and concerns about product and ingredient safety.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Evaluate safety risks associated with customer-reported adverse reactions.Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop and implement safety and hygiene systems and standards.Assess potential medication interaction risks for dietary supplements.Train and mentor formulators to design safe and environmentally responsible formulations.Provide input on clinical study design and cosmetic safety risk assessments.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Medicine, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a similar field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety assessment and compliance, preferably in the Personal Care or Nutrition industry.Demonstrated knowledge of EU/UK cosmetics regulations, Prop 65, and MoCRA legislation.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Fluency in English; a second language is a plus.
