Job Description:

NextGen Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Editor to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and consistency of technical documentation. This role involves reviewing and refining technical content, collaborating with writers and subject matter experts (SMEs), and ensuring compliance with company style guides and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Edit, proofread, and check the structure of technical content, including online Help, API documentation, user guides, and release documents.Ensure content is clear, concise, and consistent with company style guides and technical standards, including legal accessibility and usability requirements.Collaborate with technical writers and content managers to improve documentation quality.Maintain and update style guides and terminology databases.Ensure accessibility, readability, and usability of technical content for diverse audiences, including inclusive language, plain language, reuse, and minimalism.Conduct content audits and other quality improvement projects.Understand UX concepts and edit UX/UI content.Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.

Education & Experience:

2-4 years in technical editing or a related role.Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, or Journalism. Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Strong editorial and proofreading skills; advanced English language knowledge and proficiency; familiarity with US-English style guides (such as Microsoft Manual of Style or Chicago).Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, strong analytical thinking, ability to work in a fully remote, globally distributed team, and compassionate, constructive communication skills for guiding and mentoring writers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in software, engineering, healthcare, or finance industries.Experience with topic-based authoring.Experience with structured authoring tools (DITA, XML).Knowledge of structured authoring and content management systems (CMS).Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG, Section 508).
