**Position Summary**
**Technical Editor**
RSI is recruiting for an early or mid-career detail-oriented technical editor to join our environmental services team to review and edit reports to support remediation on the Department of Energy (DOE) Oak RidgeReservation (ORR). The successful candidate will support the team in producing high quality documents to be released publicly as part of the ORR Federal Facility Agreement. The documents produced by the Environmental Services Team vary from complex technical reports with a multitude of figures, tables and calculations to higher-level management reports meant to communicate project successes or challenges to the public. This position is located in Oak Ridge, TN, but remote work will be considered for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Review and edit a variety of technical reports, presentations, work plans, tables, and documents in a timely manner to meet project milestones.
+ Format all documents through all stages of revision in Microsoft Word according to site-specific style guide and style sheet. Create final pdf versions of documents at the end of the formatting and editing process.
+ Review and revise multi-author documents to read in one voice while focusing on grammar and consistency
+ Review and incorporate document revisions based on stakeholder reviews
+ Work with document production team to finalize transmittal letters, compile all pieces of deliverable package, and store all files in document archives
+ Regularly communicate with report authors and document production team about editing needs and project progress.
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Technical Editing/Writing, English, or Journalism
+ 3-4 years prior relevant and proven experience with scientific and/or environmental documents
+ Skilled in using Microsoft Word to apply and update styles, insert figures, format tables, insert section and page breaks, and generate/update tables of contents
+ Experience with Microsoft Word’s track change’s function
+ Experience using Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Ability to work on multiple documents concurrently
