We are now looking for a dynamic Technical Expert specialising in 4-stroke engine turbochargers to join our skilled Turbocharging and Performance team in Technical Services. We welcome candidates at various levels of seniority, as this role can also be offered as Senior Technical Expert.
The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland, but Turku, Finland and Trieste, Italy can also be considered. In accordance with our hybrid work model, you will be able to work partially remotely. To support our customers around the world, occasional travel is required, with the flexibility to adjust the frequency based on your preferences.
What will you be doing?
The Turbocharger Expert plays a crucial role in supporting our customers to maintain and enhance the performance of our products, providing high-level technical support to both external and internal customers throughout the product lifecycle. You will solve complex technical and operational problems, propose product improvements to meet quality targets, and ultimately ensure customer satisfaction. To excel in this role, we are looking for someone with a comprehensive understanding and in-depth knowledge of engine operations and components, particularly in the areas of turbocharging and exhaust systems.
Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
Providing technical support for and ensuring performance of Wärtsilä 4-stroke engine turbochargers. Collecting, analysing, and sharing operational data and field experience related to turbocharging and exhaust components. Assisting in the failure analysis of engine components by analysing performance data. Producing field follow-up materials, feedback analyses, and reports. Supporting new product releases by participating in field follow-up investigations of new engine products. Supporting our sales team with retrofit and upgrade activities. Supporting product improvement processes by sharing valuable field experiences and feedback. Creating and maintaining technical content for manuals, after-sales information, and service bulletins. Creating training materials and occasionally hosting training sessions for internal and external customers. Representing the company as a Technical Expert in customer and supplier meetings. Actively engaging in continuous competence development and acquiring new knowledge within your area of expertise.
The following will enable you to succeed in this role:
BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Strong motivation and genuine interest in working with 4-stroke engine turbocharging systems. Prior experience with 4-stroke engines, turbocharging troubleshooting, and performance analysis. Excellent skills in data analysis and reporting. A solution-oriented mindset and excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills. Ambition to learn, adapt to, and develop new technologies. Strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset to provide the best possible experience for our customers. Organised, proactive, and flexible way of working, with a self-directed approach and the capability to drive work forward independently. Proficient English language skills, both written and spoken. Willingness to travel when required.
