Technical Expert - Chassis Durability CAE

In this position... 
Lead Underbody durability strategy to solve technical challenges of Chassis systems.

You'll have... 
M.S. in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or academic equivalent, in a closely related technical discipline.
· Expert knowledge in mechanics, dynamics and durability behavior of chassis systems used at Ford including fracture mechanics and crack propagation.
· Expert knowledge in linear, nonlinear, static, dynamic and fatigue CAE techniques as well as related software ( Abaqus, Nastran, Design Life, Hyperworks, ANSA, MetaPost, … ).
· Expert knowledge of FE-meshing techniques and system modeling in Abaqus.
· At least 10 years’ experience at durability CAE with 5 years in chassis component simulation.
· Good knowledge Optimization tools such as Heeds and/or Mode Frontier.
· Good knowledge of engineering quality analysis and improvement methods.

Ability to establish, track and maintain workplans.
· Ability to summarize results, prepare and make engineering presentations.
· Ability to plan and lead meetings effectively on a global basis.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Excellent scripting knowledge to enhance CAE

What you'll do...
Lead Underbody durability strategy to solve technical challenges of Chassis systems.
· Lead material modeling and interface modeling of chassis components and systems.
· Lead Method development and improvement of durability CAE methods to achieve high CAE confidence level for Steel, Aluminum, composite and rubber parts.
· Lead method development and modeling of interfaces such as ball joint and top mount torque loss, press in of rubber bushings and studs with knurls.
· Lead method development for simulating structural failure modes including fracture mechanics and crack propagation.
· Lead method development for wheel stud bending.
· Lead documentation of test methods, best practices and lessons learned for best-in-class modeling.
· Co-lead PCA process along with chassis core team for durability issues
· Responsible to automate processes by scripting existing and new tools resulting in efficient CAE methods.
· Lead topology and Topography Optimization to minimize mass and achieve best durability performance on chassis components.
· Support component, sub-systems, and vehicle testing to correlate CAE models.
· Collaborate with suppliers/test vendors to improve the material database and accuracy of CAE models.
