Technical Expert - Cylinder Block

In this position... 
The Engine Cylinder Block Technical Expert is responsible for design, engineering signoff, issue resolution and providing technical advice to engineers and IPTSE management team for engine cylinder block and associated structure components.

You'll have... 
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
10+ years of overall automotive experience.
6 years in cylinder block design.

Even better, you may have...
MS in engineering is preferred.
Familiar with Ford QOS processes.
Familiar with Ford GPDS process.
Familiar with FEDE environment.
Demonstrated track records of utilizing G8D and 3X5W processes for issue resolution.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Demonstrated project management skills. 
Good communication skills.

What you'll do...

Key responsible components – cylinder block, cylinder liners, main bearing caps and main bearing beam/windage tray.  Conduct Tech Club meetings on a weekly basis to review design rules and requirements assessment done by component engineers and sign off deviation as needed. Share design best practice in Tech club meetings. Provide technical consultation and help direct component sourcing decisions. Maintain foundation documents (DFMEA, P-Diagram, Boundary Diagrams, SCCAF, CQH etc…) Maintain generic ESOW. Provide technical lead in issue resolution utilizing 8D process. Utilize 3X5W process to drill down root cause and identify PRA.  Lead PRA implementation. Author and maintain design rules, engineering specifications and requirements. Author and maintain component level design validation methods. Support engine program launch as needed (on-site if required). Supplier site visit on an as needed basis to support issue resolution. Author and maintain engineering specifications. Lead in future technology development and author associated DFMEA. Support purchasing to create/maintain commodity business plan for components. Develop new suppliers when needed. Support global requests for support (China, Europe, Mexico, FSAO and India) Assist in TVM and resourcing actions as needed. Mentor and educate new engineers.
