In this position... 
VEV is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to champion driver and proving ground safety across North America. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will play a critical role in developing and implementing best practices to mitigate risks associated with vehicle testing and driver operations. This position requires a strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, accident reconstruction, and driver training, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills.
 

You'll have... 

Required:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Must be a Technical Driver Safety Expert Proven advanced driver vehicle limit handling skills (documentation required). Proficiency in workplace safety and vehicle/driver risk assessments. Ability to conduct detailed vehicle accident reconstruction analysis and interpret Electronic Data Recorder (EDR) data. Ability to lead sensitive group discussions and facilitate collaborative conflict resolution. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments under tight deadlines. Strong technical acumen, exceptional communication, and organizational skills.

Even better, you may have...

Desired:

Master of Science degree in Engineering (Automotive or Mechanical preferred). Background in Vehicle Dynamics, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), or Brake Controls Development. Minimum 5 years of experience at an automotive OEM. Strong understanding of US DOT driver qualifications. Strong proficiency in diverse driving environments, including off-road driving, trailer towing, circuit driving, low-mu driving, and high-speed driving.

What you'll do...

Oversee and manage the Ford internal driver certification program, collaborating with instructors globally to ensure consistency and high standards. Lead post-accident investigations, conducting thorough root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions. Serve as the company SME on public driver qualification for commercial motor vehicle operations. Actively manage the driver qualification process to ensure efficiency, quality, and high skill output of the global driver training program. Review all internal accidents within 24 hours and collaborate with prototype control to determine if grounding is necessary. Review all non-standard testing procedures and provide input on safe execution methods. Review all new vehicle camouflage designs and provide sign-off for adherence to safety protocols. Lead the Global Driver Safety Governance Board. Travel may be required to other proving grounds.
