In this position...
Technical Expert position leading technical design and development of the Spring System for leaf and coil spring systems in our Ford Vehicles.
**Responsibilities**
+ Lead development and maintenance of the suspension spring system and components engineering specifications and foundation documents including design rules, RQTs and interface contracts/agreements
+ Lead technical design reviews with component supervisor for System/Subsystem/Component
+ Integral to Signoff of System/Subsystem/Component with specific signoff responsibility before Chief Signoff
+ Coach, Mentor, & Train D&R engineers across the various global regions on spring system and component end items
+ Create/maintain Generic FMA documentation
+ Go-To for Problem Solving – Launch, Recall, Quality / Field Issues, DV/PV Issues
+ Conduct forming, assembly, and test manufacturing process reviews and recommend best practices.
+ Conduct benchmarking to optimize designs for future programs
+ Provide technical support to the Architecture, Core, and Applications teams for the development of all spring systems and components.
+ Develop and own interfaces with interfacing component/systems on boundary diagram including coil spring seat interfaces and leaf spring clearance calculator.
+ Provide Technical leadership to broader Underbody Systems engineering teams.
+ Leverage CAE modelling capability to optimize quality, maximize efficiency and minimize cost
+ Manage and develop strategies for new technologies including composite leaf springs and utilization of leaf springs with BEV vehicles.
+ Create and Conduct training sessions
**Other Information**
+ Position requires occasional travel to assembly plants and other global chassis engineering centers to support new process development, issue resolution, and Design and Release engineer training.
+ Travel may be significant at times as needed
+ On-site support for collaboration required targeting 3 days per week minimum
**Qualifications**
+ BS-Engineering required, MS-Engineering preferred
+ Extensive component engineering design & release experience in spring systems and components including specific experience on launch for leaf and coil spring systems.
+ Extensive experience creating and managing DFMEA/PFMEA/SCCAF/Control Plans/ drawings-GD&T
+ Experience with CAE tools and methods.
+ Extensive knowledge & experience with associated supplier manufacturing and quality processes.
+ Required leadership skills - quality focused as #1 priority, innovative, excellent communicator, strong organizational skills, highly motivated self starter
+ Strong analytical, math, and programming skills related to joint design and creation of engineering tools
+ Understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools including Teamcenter and buck environment.
+ Ability to handle complex tasks and challenging situations under compressed timing
+ Experience communicating with senior leaders, design and release, manufacturing, and suppliers
+ Outstanding planning, organizational and project management skills with proper follow-up to accomplish multiple objectives
+ Strong One Ford Leadership Behaviors with demonstrated ability to drive and deliver results
+ Effective coaching and mentoring skills
+ Excellent written and oral presentation skills
+ Ability to build strong effective relationships with cross functional teams (Foundation Chassis, Design and Release, Vehicle Operations, Testing Centers, and Suppliers)
