KONE is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Technical Field Support Team Leader for our Johannesburg, South Africa office, to support Technical Field Support organization in solving complex technical issues and spreading technical knowledge. Our team comprises maintenance professionals who provide onsite service to our customers. We are looking for a confident candidate who will lead and be involved in the resolution of callouts or other complex technical issues that are logged at the Technical Helpdesk and offer remote support to the maintenance technician and where necessary go and support on-site.
In this role, you will live the KONE values daily and be a role model to others. The successful candidate will be a confident leader of the team and work towards ensuring quality service, improving equipment safety and performance as well as promoting regular and proactive on-site communication to customers and the people using the equipment. The successful candidate will have experience in both installation and maintenance of elevators and escalators, which will also include the responsibility of ensuring tests and final inspections on all KONE products on site. Experience on all elevator and escalator types is an advantage.
What you will do:
Responsible for safe working practices and carrying out the operations according to maintenance and safety instructions to ensure the safety of end-users and other employees.Responsible for solving complex technical issues that THD has assigned to him/her.Responsible for scheduling first visits of new equipment coming from competitors or KONE.Responsible for the identification of any technical issues in equipment under maintenance that could cause call-outs or safety hazards and fix the issues, create sales leads, and/or communicate to the Manager.Responsible for actively identifying any technical competence gaps to maintain new equipment in service (both from competitors and from new equipment) and communicating it to the Maintenance Supervisor / Technical Helpdesk Manager.Responsible for giving feedback to any repair or adjustment needs that could reduce call-outs and actively communicating with the Technical Helpdesk Manager.Contributes to the ongoing improvement of products, methods, and safety by providing feedback to the technical help desk Manager.Responsible for effectively planning the team’s workload, in conjunction with the THD Manager.Are you the one:
N6 Diploma in mechanical engineering or a related qualification plus an elevator trade test certificate.Minimum 5 years of experience installing and/or maintaining elevators.Minimum 2 years in a team leadership role.Knowledge of KONE plus competitor products will be an asset.Excellent problem-solving skills.Escalator background is a must.Valid driver’s license.What do we offer?
