Period of Work: May-August 2025
Full-Time: 40 hours a week
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
In Office Requirement: 5 days a week onsite
Our department provides multidisciplinary systems and operational engineering for North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and United
States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), and Headquarters United States Space Command (USSPACECOM). This department is a vibrant element of the N250 Joint Staff (JS) and Combatant Command (CCMD) Division, emphasizes collaboration and sponsor mission orientation. Several MITRE corporate initiatives have roots or leadership in this department: Homeland Defense, thought leadership for Space as a Warfighting Domain, resiliency analysis for critical infrastructure, and lead for MITRE's Arctic Experimentation efforts.
The Technical High School Intern will work as part of a team of interns and early career staff to help solve problem sets for the Department of Defense.
Required Qualifications:
+ Current sophomores in high school (10th graders) through current seniors in high school (12th graders), and who will not have entered in their full-time college undergraduate studies by summer 2025
+ Sustained excellence in academic performance including a 3.0+ GPA or higher, high standardized test scores, plus a record of technical or scientific interests and engagement.
+ Ability to work in-person every day during the summer at MITRE's facilities in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Students must be prepared to commute every day from their summer place of residence to MITRE's Colorado Springs site for in-person work. There will be no remote-work or hybrid-work option.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Python
+ Advanced Math through Calc II
+ Experience with modeling tools (e.g. SysML, MATLAB)

Salary compensation range and midpoint:
$33,000 - $41,500 - $50,000 Annual
