Actalent is seeking a talented Technical Illustrator/Drafter/Designer to join our team and support a local client! A typical day for someone in this role would involve developing comprehensive assembly manuals for kit-built aircraft, ensuring instructions are clear, concise, and visually supported. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and prototype teams to understand assembly procedures and capture key insights for documentation. Additionally, you will collaborate with CAD drafters and illustrators to create high-quality visuals that enhance comprehension for builders of varying experience levels. Gathering feedback from internal teams and customers to continuously improve the instructions and maintaining accurate, consistent documentation adhering to company standards and aviation industry best practices is essential. Keeping up-to-date with aviation regulations and best practices to ensure documentation compliance and user safety is also a crucial part of the role. This position is integral to ensuring that builders have the best possible experience assembling their aircraft, involving a mix of technical writing, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop comprehensive assembly manuals for kit-built aircraft.Collaborate with engineers, designers, and prototype teams to understand assembly procedures and capture key insights for documentation.Create high-quality visuals in collaboration with CAD drafters and illustrators to enhance comprehension.Gather feedback from internal teams and customers to continuously improve instructions.Ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent, and adheres to company standards and aviation industry best practices.Maintain a well-organized library of documentation and keep it updated.Stay informed about aviation regulations and best practices to ensure documentation compliance and user safety.Essential Skills/QualificationsMust have 3+ years' experience in the following:Technical writing experience - creating work and assembly instructions, and technical illustrations.Ability to read drawings and blueprints.Mechanical design and drafting skills.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Additional Skills/QualificationsExperience in creating instructional materials, preferably in aviation or manufacturing.Exceptional attention to detail and ability to break down complex assembly steps into precise, easy-to-understand instructions.Experience working with CAD drawings and illustrations to support written instructions.Work Environment
Office environment with the ability to have your own space, but also the flexibility to work on the floor and see the kits. The team is growing, bringing a lot of work in-house with new kits being created and released.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
