The Technical Instructor is an essential part of our Smarsh University Team and will report to our head of Smarsh University within the Chief Customer Officer (CCO) function. This individual will be expected to become an expert on Smarsh products, develop and deliver training to Smarsh customers.
The Technical Instructor must be agile, curious, driven and motivated with an ability to pivot across topics and between development and delivery seamlessly.
This individual has the opportunity to make a big difference on a small team and help build and grow a world class training and certification program.What will you do?Develop and maintain an expert level knowledge of Smarsh products (current and ongoing) and related technologies in order to be able to deliver training and share expert knowledge with class attendees.Assess, design, develop and implement e-learning and instructor-led solutions directly tied to organizational business needs across customer, employee and partner contexts.Work with internal subject matter experts to design training material that is accurate and meets the needs of various audiences.Demonstrate customer-first mindset while confidently delivering instructor led training sessions.Create and send out invitations to upcoming classes. Create virtual classes, stage and update training environments as required to support training delivery.Review, revise and improve training material as a result of instructor, attendee or stakeholder feedback.Create video tutorials using tools for screen recording and audio editing that align with our team’s style guidelines and standards.Develop assessments for online learning topics; write questions that are closely aligned to learning objectives and accurately evaluate learning.Manage eLearning and other training material using company LMS (Learning Management System)Provide feedback to help update and improve training material based on observations during training delivery and attendee feedback.Play an important role in developing and maintaining Smarsh’s image and reputation in the marketplace while delivering world-class training sessions.Other duties as assigned.What will you bring?Lesson and curriculum planning skills.Solid knowledge of authoring and course development software.Learning Management System experience, Skilljar experience preferred.Ability to write effective instructional text, audio scripts and video scripts.Ability to record clear and concise eLearning modules, potentially using own voice.Ability to iterate on existing training and prioritize progress over perfection.Comfortable working with software solutions.Strong problem solving and analytical skills.Ability to maintain personable, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where delivery is key.A motivated self-starter who can work alone and as a part of a team.Eager to learn and improve technical knowledge and skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Education and ExperienceCollege/University degree in a related field or 5 years’ experience in a specific technical area (or work experience equivalent).Proven working experience as a technical instructor in delivery customer facing software technology training classes.Experience with at least one Learning Management System and remote training delivery tool.Ability to write effective instruction text, audio scripts/video scripts.Ability to record clear and concise eLearning modules.Comfortable working with software solutions.Eager to learn and improve technical knowledge and skills.Must be a self-starter who is able to work alone or as a part of a team.Passion for education with a strong ability to maintain personable relationships with all internal and external customers.
$75,000 - $115,000 a yearThe above salary range represents Smarsh's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
Any applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process.
The salary for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training. Local cost of living assessments are done for each new hire at the time of offer.About our culture
