About the Role:
Provides end-to-end visibility across various technical domains and facilitates collaboration among technical SMEs.Evaluates technical feasibility and options for the solution.Helps identify low-level dependencies, technical risks, and mitigation options and ensures technical health of the asset and adherence to a technical debt budget.Works with the Product Owner to deliver product roadmap and drive value using technology.Work closely with the Product Owner, Business Analyst and/or Designer to establish technical requirements and lead the technical direction of the work.The role Involves setting (and continuously improving) technical standards and relevant patterns for software delivery.Ensures smooth running of the delivery team, focused on quality and delivery excellence.Provides leadership to developers on principles and practices, ensures consistency in approach. Leads by example in building quality in, aligned with product vision and value.

In a typical day you can expect to:
Collaborate with Product and Design on team roadmap and prioritiesExecute and deliver on the roadmap in collaboration with Product and DesignDirect line management for all the engineers in the squad.Drive work and epic breakdown for effective estimation, capacity planning and deliveryManage and unblock technical dependencies with other teams where requiredChampion and adopt Engineering best practicesAccountable to the System Health and Tech debt backlog for their respectively owned serviceImprove engineering efficiency for their respective teamAccountable to reporting on delivery metrics for their respective teamMentor and coach software engineers in progressive engineering practicesParticipate in and contribute to cross domain technology forums such as Architecture Guild andTech Leadership Guild 1Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to drive Solution Design for large initiativesBe an ambassador for the Engineering brand internally and externallyElevate and escalate to tech leaders where large investment in tech debt and tech initiatives is requiredBuild a deep understanding of their product and business domainHands-on where necessary with a focus on initiatives that will help 10x the teamPerforms code reviews where necessaryFacilitate team ceremonies where necessary
Our Ideal Person:
ESSENTIALS:
Experience designing software solutions for scale Experience with either high traffic customer facing websites and/or complex mobile appsExperience optimising engineering practices and processesEvidence of data informed decision makingExperience working with one of the common Cloud Platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCPExperience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CDExperience working in Agile environmentsExperience mentoring more junior engineersExperience leading a team of engineersExperience working in triads (Product, Design and Tech)Deep expertise in at least one programming language and tech stackUnderstands shift-left testing and how to implement it in practiceFamiliar with Functional and Object Oriented programmingFamiliar with Document and Relational data persistence modelsFamiliar with Cloud Design patternsFamiliar with TDD, BDD and Domain Driven designFamiliar with synchronous (API) and async (Messaging) integration patternsFamiliar with modern Application Security Practices (OWASP)Experience with React Native and/or TypeScript, Javascript, Node.js, Next.js and React.jsExperience with distributed applications in the cloudHighly regarded experience: MongoDB
