Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of software engineers in the mainframe space, ensuring the successful delivery of projects within agreed timelines and quality standards. Design, develop, and maintain high-quality mainframe applications, adhering to established coding standards and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, testers, and project managers, to gather requirements, analyze system designs, and propose technical solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting professional development and knowledge-sharing within the team. Review code for quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards, conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback. Identify and resolve technical issues or bottlenecks, working closely with team members to ensure timely resolution. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and functional designs. Coordinate with infrastructure and operations teams to ensure smooth deployment and maintenance of mainframe applications. Assist in resource planning and allocation, ensuring that projects are appropriately staffed and managed for optimal efficiency. Flexible and effective at multi-taskingRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent required. Extensive experience in mainframe software development, with hands-on expertise in languages like COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, or JCL.Proven track record of successfully leading and managing software development projects in the mainframe space.Strong understanding of mainframe architectures, operating systems (e.g., z/OS), and tools (e.g., TSO/ISPF, SDSF, File-AID, CICS, DB2).Proficient in software development methodologies (waterfall, agile) and version control systemsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to team members, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
