What does a Automation Technical Lead do at Hogarth?
The Automation Technical Lead plays a critical role in driving the successful delivery of automation projects within the Central Automation Team (CAT). This role is responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of artwork production in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator with exceptional project management, communication and analytical thinking capabilities. Coupled with a strong understanding of automation and project management frameworks, tools, and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Be the key contact for Client WW based production teams and Hogarth internal Production teams (Print, Channel interactive and Image production studio) to ensure WW mechanicals are built to standards and automation ready.This includes:
Providing guidance and support on file setup and best practices for automation. Collaborating with production teams to identify automation opportunities and develop solutions. Educating production teams on automation capabilities and benefits. Work closely with Client Print and Digital Producers, and Hogarth teams to develop best practice file setup and prepare automation strategies.This involves:
Understanding client requirements and workflows. Identifying potential bottlenecks and areas for automation. Developing tailored automation strategies that meet specific client needs. Improve existing automation tools and scripts, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.Project Management:
Oversee the entire automation project lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Define project scope with other CAT leads, manage timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring projects are delivered on time to the required quality standards. Manage project risks and dependencies, proactively identifying and mitigating potential roadblocks. Provide regular project updates and reports to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication.Performance Tracking:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of automation solutions. Track and analyze performance data, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. Prepare regular reports on automation performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for future development.Process Optimization:
Continuously evaluate existing business processes to identify opportunities for automation and improvement. Design and implement optimized workflows that leverage automation to enhance efficiency and productivity. Understanding of workflow automation tools such as Switch. Interest in AI and innovationTechnical Expertise
Experience with automation tools and scripts for design tasks (e.g., InDesign scripting, Photoshop actions and Scripts). Strong understanding of print production processes and best practices. Proven ability to execute within automation frameworks, tools, and technologies relevant to the Cat Team. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the automation team, ensuring the use of best practices and adherence to coding standards. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to automation scripts, frameworks, and infrastructure. Develop comprehensive documentation for all automation solutions, including design specifications, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.Requirements
8-10 years of experience in a studio environment, in which at least 3 years of studio / technical lead, project management experience is required. Bachelor’s degree required in a design related discipline, such as graphic design, visual communication, information design, or interaction design. Solid time management, planning and organisation skills. Expert in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Good knowledge of print, colour retouching, and digital artwork production. Excellent organiational skills, and outstanding project and time management skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to travel as required, sometimes several weeks at a time.The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
