Technical Lead Engineer- Aviation Navigation

Salt Lake City, Utah- Hybrid

Position Summary

Thales, a leader in aviation navigation solutions, is seeking a Technical Lead Engineer to head the development of solutions that meet both immediate customer needs and future product development.  This position will work closely with Project Engineering, System Engineering, Sales/Bids, and Program Management to deliver high quality solutions while being the technical expert for the products.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for   authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). 

Key Areas of Responsibility

Internally and externally promote technical aspects of the design.

Define the solution level architecture for existing products and new products.

Responsible for the technical solution from system level to component/circuit level.

Work with Bid Team to define the technical solution and overall compliance as well as any tailoring required to meet customer needs

Influence project planning, requirements, and testing and associated day-to-day design and development decisions.

Development and maintain system specifications and interfaces as well as overseeing the design, implementation, and testing. 

Track system requirements from concept of operations through operations and maintenance.

Conduct product performance testing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering, or another technical field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or Master’s degree in Systems or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.

At least 5 years of working in an environment involving complex systems which included multiple sub-systems.

At least 6 years of progressively responsible engineering experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Hands on experience with designing, testing, and manufacturing of PCBAs.

At least 5 years of experience in all stages of design, development, testing and manufacturing.

Preferred Qualification

Prior experience in RF design and testing.

Experience managing complex system projects.

Aircraft Navigation experience

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Anticipated to be less than 10% annually. Trips can be both domestic and international travel and less than 5 days in length, with international trips up to 7 days in length.
